NSCDC Arrests Suspected Gun Runner and Fraudster in Kano


 

The Kano State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has arrested a suspected gun runner and another individual accused of fraud in separate operations aimed at addressing criminal activities in the state.

Suspected Gun Runner Apprehended

According to the NSCDC, the suspect was arrested during an intelligence-driven operation carried out by its officers. Authorities say the individual was allegedly involved in the illegal possession and movement of firearms.

Security officials explained that the arrest followed credible intelligence reports about suspicious activities related to arms trafficking. The suspect is currently being held in custody while investigations continue to determine where the weapons came from and whether other people are connected to the operation.

The NSCDC emphasized that the circulation of illegal firearms contributes significantly to insecurity and violent crimes, and the agency remains committed to tracking down those involved in such activities.

Arrest of Alleged Fraudster

In a separate incident, the NSCDC also arrested a 37-year-old suspect, Abbas Lawan Garkuwa, in Kwankwasiyya City located in Kumbotso Local Government Area of Kano State.

Authorities allege that the suspect was involved in fraudulent activities targeting members of the public. Investigations are currently ongoing to uncover the full details of the alleged fraud and identify any accomplices.

Commitment to Combating Crime

The NSCDC reaffirmed its dedication to maintaining security and tackling crimes such as arms trafficking and fraud in Kano State. The agency also called on members of the public to assist security agencies by providing useful information that can help prevent criminal activities.

Officials added that anyone found guilty after investigations would be prosecuted according to the law.
